The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University seeks to hire a senior faculty member to provide academic and programmatic leadership of its professional Master of Arts in International Relations (MAIR) program. We are seeking to hire either a candidate with sufficient academic qualifications to be hired at the rank of associate or full professor with tenure, or a candidate with substantial leadership experience in a professional field involving extensive international affairs work, who could be appointed as a professor of practice. The person hired will be a faculty member in the Department of Public Administration and International Affairs at the Maxwell School beginning in August, 2020.
The position is open to candidates from a wide-range of social science disciplines and candidates with appropriate academic qualifications can be considered for a courtesy or joint appointment with one of the other social science departments in the Maxwell School. We encourage applications from candidates with expertise in any one of a broad range of areas covered in the MAIR program. These areas include, but are not limited to adaption to climate change, conflict studies, diplomacy, environmental sustainability, global governance, humanitarian assistance, human rights, international development, international finance, international political economy, international security, international trade, management and leadership of international organizations, NGO management and leadership, peace studies, and regional studies focused on Africa, East Asia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, or South Asia.
