Post Doctoral Associate position available immediately. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team whose goal is modeling economic and ecological interactions of a major commercial clam fishery and proposed wind energy farms along the US Atlantic coast. Position is based at the Haskin Shellfish Research Lab (located in Port Norris, NJ) at Rutgers University, in Prof. Daphne Munroe's group. Will include frequent travel to meet with project collaborators and advisors from management and fishing communities. Funding is in place for one year, with possible extension to 2 years. The postdoc will be responsible for coordinating meetings with interdisciplinary teams, collection of data from advisory teams and primary literature, planning and running simulations of ocean energy/fishery interactions, and writing reports and manuscripts about results. We seek applications from candidates with experience or interest in shellfish fisheries and numerical modeling. The project is highly collaborative and interdisciplinary, and we invite applications from candidates who excel in team work environments and are interested in building an interdisciplinary network of collaborators.
Minimum Education and Experience:
PhD in ecology, fisheries, data science or related fields.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Preference will be given to applicants with 1) expertise in shellfish ecology, fisheries, or resource management; 2) strong communication, team building, and organization skills; 3) ability to code in R, MatLab, Fortran or similar languages; and 4) strong publication record and proven written and oral communication skills. Valid Driver’s License required.
