The School for Young Children, an NAEYC accredited center and laboratory school to the University of Saint Joseph is actively seeking energetic and passionate individuals to work as per diem substitutes. The substitute will support the classroom teaching staff in a classroom with young children between the ages of 3 and 5.
Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to)
Assist classroom teaching staff by engaging with children during activities inside the classroom and within the outdoor environment.
Understand the basic principles in guiding children's behavior to promote a positive classroom environment.
Assist full time staff in following lesson plans.
Tend to basic needs of children by providing assistance with daily routines and self-help skills.
Models proper eating habits and hygiene.
Assist in maintaining a clean, neat and organized classroom.
Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
Experience working in a preschool classroom setting.
Demonstrated ability to work in an active school environment.
Ability to work in a fast paced, customer service environment with patience, flexibility and attention to detail.
Professional, courteous demeanor and appearance; ability to work professionally with fellow teachers, students, faculty, staff and administration.
Cultural competency to work with diverse student and/or employee population
