The Division of Allied Health Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2020. This position is a 10-month per year term. Additional information about the division and facilities can be found at http://www.iuk.edu/allied-health-sciences/index.html.
The successful candidate will teach three undergraduate Health Sciences courses per semester mainly within the Exercise and Sport Science degree concentration. This candidate should be able to teach the following courses: Sport and Exercise Psychology, Motor Development, and Motor Learning. Though specific courses will be tailored to the successful candidate, the ability to teach one or more of the following would be advantageous: Ethics in Sport; Special Topics Course in Kinesiology; Introduction to Exercise Science; Exercise and Sport Science Capstone and Internships; Biomechanics; Exercise Physiology. Online teaching may be expected.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a vibrant research program, which must lead to publications in reputable journals. Research with the potential for internal/external funding is an asset. The candidate's research interests can include any area of Health Science, but projects should be able to integrate undergraduate student researchers.
The successful candidate will also be expected to engage in service to the campus and division including committee work, assessment of the degree, and engaging in campus initiatives to increase retention and enrollment.
Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Sport and Exercise Sciences, or a related field, although ABDs who will earn a doctorate by September 2021 will be considered. Candidates who currently hold a rank above Assistant Professor are also encouraged to apply. The best candidates will be those who can document previous effective teaching in the university setting (e.g., course evaluation evidence and summaries, student feedback and comments), along with an active research program.
