The Center for Writing Excellence Program Coordinator, under the supervision of the Director, will provide overall support to the Center for Writing Excellence (CWE). Support will be provided by managing student assistants, scheduling, record keeping, website development, workshop design and curriculum development, and other critical areas that contribute to daily operations. The Program Coordinator will provide leadership and management of the CWE when the Director and Assistant Director are unavailable, including evenings and weekends. This is a part-time position pensionable after one year.
The successful candidate will provide effective, efficient and professional support serving the needs of the Center for Writing Excellence. The position requires the ability to multitask in a complex environment that has many users including students, faculty, administrators, and other staff. The person filling this position will be excellent at managing time and tasks, have superb organizational skills, and work as an effective team player as part of the CWEâ™s staff.Â In addition, the person filling the position will have excellent spoken and written communications skills as they serve as an interface for the CWE. The position requires problem-solving skills with minimal supervision. The person filling the position will have excellent computer skills and be able to learn additional computer applications. The position also requires the ability to maintain confidential personnel and student information, the ability to maintain essential records and files, and the ability to gather, compile and proof materials for reporting purposes.
Other job responsibilities include:
Participates in the hiring/interview process of new employees for front desk staff and writing consultants.
Monitors student employees and per diem staff for adherence to CWE policies and guidelines.
Identifies potential problems in the CWE and communicates with the Director for solutions.
Attends campus events that CWE consultants participate in and coordinates/troubleshoots for CWE staff.
Compiles and analyzes CWE data.
Maintains records and files.
Conducts research on writing center scholarship as well as theories of teaching and learning; presents findings to Director and CWE staff.
Organizes and manages CWE workshops for students and/or staff.
Assists with event planning. Performs duties during events such as registering and greeting attendees, assisting guest speakers, managing materials/handouts, assisting with event setup. Provides post-event summaries of attendance and effectiveness.
Participates in all CWE training activities, seminars, and professional development meetings.
Monitors and organizes CWE computers, equipment, and supply inventories; orders supplies.
Develops materials for internal and external use.
Creates new initiatives for the CWEâ™s participation in campus life.
Contributes to community outreach programs.
Represents the CWE to the public as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Masterâ™s degree in composition and rhetoric or a related field
Minimum of two years of experience teaching writing or providing programmatic/curricular support in a directly related area
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Ability to design and develop workshop materials
Experience in and knowledge of writing center or tutoring work
Expertise in writing, editing, and proofreading
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Previous experience and success in an environment that teaches and strengthens writing skills
Proficiency in WC Online, Canvas, and other software applications
Coursework in Writing Studies
Experience in higher education administration
