Position: The College of Education invites applications for a tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor position in the Department of Educational Technology and Literacy (EDTL) with expertise in school library media, instructional design, children and young adult school library services, and digital media and technology in youth work or related areas, beginning August 2020. The EDTL department has an established and successful school library media program with new approaches to educational and research needs of professionals seeking to understand emerging models for instructional delivery and youth participation in the new media ecology in K-12 educational settings.
Qualifications: Doctorate in Instructional Technology, School Library Media, or related field. ABD applicants considered, but the appointment will be contingent upon the completion of all degree requirements. Evidence of successful teaching, at the university level, in school library media and instructional design/technology areas including integrating digital resources, information literacy, collection development, school library media leadership and administration and the organization of knowledge. Strong consideration will be given to candidates who have significant interest or experience in online teaching, advising, publishing, and building an effective library and information science community of users. The successful candidate should show a record of, or strong demonstrated potential for sustained scholarly productivity, experience teaching in public/private schools, a demonstrated commitment to serving diverse and urban student needs, and knowledge of state and national standards for school library media (i.e., AASL). Proficiency in emerging digital media and technology is desired.
Responsibilities: Teach courses in school library media, instructional technology, and education courses leading to a degree and certification in school library media; and collaborate with library media colleagues and advise and mentor graduate students in the program.
The Department:The Educational Technology and Literacy (EDTL) department is an interdisciplinary department that offers a range of opportunities for a new faculty member. At the heart of EDTL is the Instructional Technology EdD and M.S. degree programs in instructional design and development, educational technology and school library media. EDTL also offers undergraduate courses in the integration of technology in teaching and learning. The department graduate programs continue to grow and implement outreach with educators throughout the state.
