Computer Science: Assistant Professor. Elon University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Computer Science. The position will begin in August 2020. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field prior to the start date. Candidates must demonstrate strong interest in teaching at the undergraduate level. Applicants from all areas of specialization within Computer Science are encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities will include a variety of courses in the Computer Science curricula, details of which are available on the department website. Teaching will also include courses in Elon’s Core Curriculum. Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of people, and who can contribute to the climate of inclusivity are encouraged to identify their experiences in their cover letter. Elon employs a teacher-scholar model of faculty engagement. As such, preferred candidates must demonstrate an ability to maintain an active research agenda that includes an interest in mentoring undergraduate research projects. Faculty typically teach six courses per year, with occasional course release opportunities available to help support faculty scholarship, service, and professional development.
