UW Medicine's IT Services (ITS) department is looking for an outstanding Student Assistant to join the ITS HR and Administration (HR/Admin) team! This position requires you to be a current student at the University of Washington, the hourly rate will be $16.50/hr. The shift for this position will be Monday through Thursday from 12:30pm-4:30pm.UW Medicine's Information Technology Services (ITS) department is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), Northwest Hospital & Medical Center (NWH), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Medical Center (UWMC), UW Neighborhood Clinics (UWNC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM) and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). In addition, UW Medicine shares in the ownership and governance of Children's University Medical Group and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (a partnership between UW Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research and Seattle Children's). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all of these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.The ITS HR/Admin team provides administrative, operational, facilities, and workforce support for a technology department of 700+ employees and contractors. The Student Assistant will provide Human Resources and office support to ensure efficient ITS HR/Admin team operations. Responsibilities include:Human Resources:Provide assistance with HR Projects in the form of researching program elements, data entry, data mapping, creating presentation materials, spreadsheets, documentsExamples of projects include, but are not limited to: compensation, organizational development, recruitment and employee relationsAssist with personnel document filing, archival and auditsFront Desk Services at Ninth & Jefferson Building:Check-in visitors; assisting them in finding their way to their meetings Answer phones and forward callers to appropriate staff; take messages or answer all routine and non-routine questionsMaintain and organize office suppliesAssist with booking and maintaining conference rooms Assist ITS staff with parking vouchers, borrowing equipment (laptops,projectors), video conferencing equipment, pagersReceive, sort, and distribute mail and packagesServe as back up for front desk coverage at the IBM building ITS office as neededMaintain lobby for a clean and professional appearanceAssist with requests for facilities and janitorial servicesDepartment CommunicationsProvide assistance for ITS staff who request to send information through one of two listservs; add and remove members to the listservsThe ideal candidate will have:Current enrollment in a degree program at the University of Washington and meet the following minimum enrollment requirements (not including correspondence credits):Undergraduate students - 6 creditsGraduate and professional students - 4 creditsPh.D. candidates working on dissertations - 2 creditsGranted "on leave" statusExperience with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint Excellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to take direction while also working with minimal supervisionA strong desire to learnDesired traits, although not required, include:MS VisioAdobe AcrobatPrior customer service experienceInterest in a career in Human ResourcesUW Medicine's mission is to improve the health of the public by advancing medical knowledge, to provide outstanding primary and specialty care to the people of the region, and to prepare tomorrow's physicians, scientists and other health professionals.
