Reporting to the Director of Career Services in the College of Science and Mathematics Student Success Center (CSAM-SSC), the Career Advisor and Employer Relations Specialist will provide career advising and services to undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Science and Mathematics, including resume and curriculum vitae reviews, classroom presentations, career fairs, mock interviews, career development workshops, and employer campus visits. The Career Advisor and Employer Relations Specialist will also focus on employer relation development, which includes developing new employer partners for internship offerings, establishing new internship and cooperative education sites, and increasing employer involvement in on-campus recruitment initiatives such as campus career fairs, on-site interviews, and on-site resume reviews.
Supports the execution of a comprehensive career advising program that addresses the needs and promotes professional success of STEM students entering the workforce.
Develops relationships with employer partners to provide internship, cooperative education, and career opportunities for CSAM students.
Assists CSAM students with early connections to industry professionals and experiential opportunities.
Collaborates with CSAM Departments to develop and support career services initiatives.
Provides career advising to CSAM students, including career and internship exploration, resume composition, professional etiquette, and interview and networking skills.
Maintains currency in the theory and practice of STEM career advising.
Assists with the management of the cooperative education programs within CSAM.
Supports and facilitates career development activities on campus, including classroom presentations, career development workshops, career fairs, and campus visits by alumni and employer partners.
Assists with the development and delivery of career services through online platforms (e.g. videoconferencing) and social medial (e.g. LinkedIn to contact alumni and employers).
Helps CSAM students understand and successfully negotiate University processes, procedures, policies, and regulations related to campus career services, as well as career-services information systems including the Hire-A-Red-Hawk and Symplicity platforms.
Collaborates with University wide career services initiatives and to ensure the consistency and quality of career services across the University
Creates an environment of support for CSAM students through advisement, workshops, and activities.
Establishes and maintains the presence of CSAM career services online to better serve students and to market upcoming events.
Tracks career development progress of CSAM students throughout their studies at Montclair State University.
Maintains currency in the University policies and procedures that impact career services offered to students.
Provides presentations about CSAM Career Services at open houses, new student orientations, and other recruiting or transition programs.
Assists in the selection, training, and evaluation of CSAM Career Services student workers, peer mentors, and graduate interns.
Represents the CSAM-SSC at University events and on committees as appropriate.
Minimum of two years of full-time professional experience working in higher education.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.

Familiarity with current understanding of core concepts, values, and competencies of Career Advising.
