The Part Time Coordinator will be the point of contact for RCBC and STEM division staff at the fire department. He/she will provide the vision and leadership required to support and enhance the mission of the Fire Academy program. The Coordinator’s primary administrative responsibilities include program development/management, continuous review, general effectiveness of the program, and providing supervision and mentoring to part-time instructor. Instructional responsibilities require a broad-based knowledge of the Fire Service field of study at the local, state and national levels. The Coordinator will be responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities supporting the STEM division administrative requirements. The Coordinator reports to the Dean of STEM.
OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY
The most important overall responsibility of all RCBC employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students, members of the college community and the public.
Accepts responsibility for the timely preparation of student outcomes assessment efforts of the faculty in planning, collecting data, and reporting dates as they relate to course outcomes, program outcomes, general education outcomes, and developmental program outcomes. Actively participates in setting annual division goals and objectives, completing OIR reporting forms, collecting data, analyzing data, and preparing a report using guidelines established by OIR.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide overall leadership and management to the Fire Academy Program curriculum development and assessment
Measure the program performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
Develops class schedules and faculty assignments in coordination with the RCBC staff
Collaborate and coordinate with departments throughout campus including, but not limited to the Office of Outreach and Admissions.
Review, communicate and provide feedback on academic issues or concerns pertaining to the program
Develop and maintain a line of communication between the fire department and the RCBC staff, the STEM Dean and the division office.
Other assignments/projects as assigned by the Division Dean.
Associate’s degree in Fire Protection Technology, Fire Science, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college/university
3 years of fire service/ fire protection training/teaching experience based on regulatory training standards.
5 years of relevant field experience in the fire Service/ fire protection.
Administrative and/or supervisory experience to include employee evaluation.
Ability to work with students in a constructive, courteous manner.
Ability to work as part of a team with faculty and other individuals.
Proficient in fire science practices.
