1) Under the general supervision of the Section Administrator and Program Director, direct and oversee the administrative activities of the Internal Medicine and Med/Peds Residency Programs.
2) Plan yearly operating budget in conjunction with Administrator. Manages the operating budget in consultation with the administrator.
3) Manage recruitment-related expenditures: advertising, booth fees, print materials, and web page.
4) Establish and communicate guidelines for academic related expenditure requests involving educational materials, educational travel, and conference registration.
5) Submit expenditures based on availability of funds and/or appropriateness to account budget.Â Develop and enforce procedures and operating standards to assure accuracy and compliance to department, university, and agency policies.Â This includes section purchasing, accounts payable, funds transfers, and other financial related activities using the University accounting system and section shadow files.
6) In consultation with the Program Director and Administrator, develops the annual work plan and anticipates/projects planning for the academic year.
7) Develop and implement methods and procedures for accomplishment of short and long-term program initiatives and goals. Evaluate the degree to which program objectives are achieved and provide feedback to the director.
8) Join with residency program and department leadership to develop and implement new systems and administrative policies, educational programs, and recruitment strategies.
9) Manage and organize day-to-day administrative operations, including the supervision of employees, managing program facilities, and payroll functions.
10) Work with chief residents to direct the complex schedule development, ensuring consistency with specifications for each residency track and considerations of prerequisites for rotations and on-call coverage, department preferences on timing, constraints on sequence, number of residents on a rotation, etc.
11) Determine special needs within residency tracks and assures that department, education and regulatory criteria are met.
12) Design administrative projects with chief medical residents, sharing longitudinal program experience to provide context for new initiatives.
13) Monitor and maintain current awareness of individual resident curriculum and activities. Ensure appropriate documentation of training experience for compliance with ACGME requirements for program accreditation.
14) Direct yearly recruitment activities for multiple tracks within the residency program.
15) Direct the faculty selection committee, in conjunction with the Program Director. Uphold and monitor faculty commitment to recruiting.Â Organize and supervise their review of applicant folders.
16) Uses national and professional society data to evaluate recruitment activities with a constant eye toward improvement.
