Assistant Teaching Professor of Media and Multicultural Studies-INQ0237264
The Department of Modern Languages in the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University seeks an Assistant Teaching Professor of Media Creation and Multicultural Studies in Pittsburgh, PA to serve as a curator of a technology-rich space on campus to promote the global and intercultural capability of the campus community and visitors through immersive, interactive culture and language learning experiences. Specific duties include: (i) leading institutional initiatives in technology-enhanced learning; (ii) teaching courses in media creation, digital literacies, and cultural studies; (iii) collaborating with colleagues and students on content creation that integrates language and cultural learning with use of the technologies of the space; (iv) providing administrative support involving facilities management; and (v) promoting the visibility and development of the space through building connections beyond campus with alumni and community partners locally, nationally, and internationally.
Must have a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in a film or media-related discipline plus two (2) years of experience in a related position. Alternate requirement: bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in a film or media-related discipline plus five (5) years of post-baccalaureate and progressively responsible experience in a related position.
With a Master's degree, two (2) years of experience must include two (2) years with each of the following: (i) media creation; (ii) an area of interdisciplinary multicultural studies; (iii) second language learning; (iv) online learning and curriculum development; and (v) digital technologies for the general public.
With a bachelor's degree, five (5) years of experience must include five (5) years with each of the following: (i) media creation; (ii) an area of interdisciplinary multicultural studies; (iii) second language learning; (iv) online learning and curriculum development; and (v) digital technologies for the general public.
Must have any experience with: (i) facilities management; (ii) community outreach; and (iii) recruiting and supervising student staff.
