In the Center for Research and Evaluation on Education and Human Services (CREEHS), Data Collectors will travel to middle schools across New Jersey to administer a survey during the 2019-2020 school year (September 2019 to June 2020). The Data Collectors report to a CREEHS Evaluation Associate. Multiple positions available.
The Data Collector conducts a range of data collection activities, including but not limited to the following:
Attends mandatory training on survey data collection
Travels to assigned schools, administers surveys, and distributes incentives
Supports preparation of materials, completes required documentation for each school, performs quality control, and returns completed documentation to CREEHS
Acts as on-site liaison with school personnel
Communicates with Crew Chief and other CREEHS staff on a regular basis
Adheres to data collection protocols and keeps records of all work activities and administrative tasks
Perform other duties as assigned

High school diploma or GED
Some coursework in research methods, psychology, education, public health, social work, or child development or a related social science field
Willing to travel to schools by personal vehicle
Ability to work/travel some early mornings (5am - 8am), if necessary
Flexible with the hours worked to accommodate schoolsâ™ preferred schedules
Strong time management, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and with diverse populations
Access to a computer and reliable internet and be proficient with Google Docs and Microsoft Office
Applicants must be willing to complete all security measures (e.g., background check) required by the study
Experience working in schools or afterschool programs
Bilingual proficiency (Spanish preferred but not required)
The Center for Research and Evaluation on Education and Human Services (CREEHS) is a revenue-generating research and evaluation center housed within Montclair State Universityâ™s College of Education and Human Services. CREEHS provides independent and objective evaluation, applied research and program planning services to institutions of higher education, community-based organizations, state and municipal agencies, school districts and foundations to assist them in meeting their specific goals and objectives related to education, public health and other human services. The Center also provides training and evaluation capacity building services in related areas.
