Essential Functions: JOB PURPOSE Reporting to the Vice Dean for Medical Education, the Medical Director, Kado is responsible for directing the educational activities for the Kado Clinical Skills Center (CSC). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS(Essential functions are the primary duties/major job responsibilities that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. Provide an educational vision for the Kado CSC, ensuring the scope of activities offered for students support the mission and educational objectives of the WSU-SOM as an urban school of clinical excellence.Provide leadership for the Director of Operations, the Assistant Director of Clinical Evaluation and the Education Directors and staff in physical diagnosis, high-fidelity and surgical simulation. Oversee department staff recruitment, hiring, performance management and staff development.Work with Kado faculty and staff, as well as other internal and external stakeholders to develop strategies for prioritizing and enhancing programs and services, utilizing available resources and acquiring additional tools to create and deliver educationally sound initiatives.Ensure that required certifications, licensure and accreditations are obtained and maintained.Develop a coordinated 360 evaluation strategy for all educational programs delivered via the Kado CSC, to ensure programmatic quality and impact on learners.Perform periodic review and evaluation of programs; assess areas for growth and improvement. Collaborate with faculty to foster research activities and facilitate publication of results in professional journals. Identify and submit extramural grants/partnership funding opportunities for simulation education.Keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise; maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to publish and present simulation activities at national and international conferences.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Medical degreeExperience: Five years' experience in medical education of students and residents. Two years' additional experience in simulation education in a medical environment. Experience in working in a comprehensive clinical skills center. Experience in progressive leadership roles. Experience in teaching and evaluating students in a clinical setting, instructing and assessing clinical skills and clinical reasoning is required. Administrative experience as a student clerkship director or course director, or residency program administrative involvement desired. Curricular design, student and resident assessment and evaluation experience is desired.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREDInterpersonal Skills ? Effective interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to handle pressure situations, including dealing with sensitive and confidential human relations situations. Proficient in the use of Banner and Microsoft Office tools, including excel. Project management, Salesforce or other CRM systems. Statistical Analysis software and experience with database query and table design. Experience with Admissions processing software.Organizational Improvement Skills ? Must possess skill in developing new policies and procedures, identifying methods to anticipate student needs, developing ways to address and implement changing regulations, and working on committees as well as with other university departments and clinical sites to improve services.
