The Director of Leadership Annual Giving will report to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Advancement and President of the Medical & Health Sciences Foundation and will focus his/her fundraising efforts on top priorities of the College of Allied Health Sciences, Brody School of Medicine, College of Nursing, and School of Dental Medicine. S/he will be a fundraising professional who understands the culture, nature, and purpose of our medical and health sciences programs and possess at a minimum:
Essential duties of the Director of Leadership Annual Giving for the Health Sciences include:
Design and implement a comprehensive Leadership Annual Giving Program for Health Sciences alumni and prospective donors.
Partner collaboratively with University Advancement Central Annual Giving Leadership and with Medical & Health Sciences Gift Officers
Conduct significant discovery work to build a qualified leadership annual giving portfolio. Collaborate with gift officers in identification of major gift prospects.
Develop a strategy for each prospect in portfolio including the development of a stewardship plan, complete 75+ face-to-face visits annually
Using a data-driven approach with industry-wide best practices, establish and work toward annual visit, solicitation, dollars raised, and prospect qualification goals; be proactive in modifying goals as capacity is discovered
Create marketing and communications plans to connect with medical and health sciences alumni and prospective donors.
Maintain a working knowledge of the demographics and donor patterns of the assigned prospects; serve as a strategic facilitator of various alumni events
Meet monthly, quarterly and annual activity metrics
Organize a high volume of data, distilling thousands of alumni records into a workable portfolio of gift prospects and strategic discovery visits
Navigate a data-driven environment using Excel and the University's alumni database to secure visits, manage portfolio activity
Demonstrate flexibility as the region is defined and one's portfolio evolves to accommodate new prospects
Collaborate with University Advancement and campus-wide colleagues according to prospect management guidelines for interacting with donors
Take advantage of internal expertise in Advancement Services and Gift Records to ensure proper use of the alumni database and gift processing; attend all required database and compliance training
Attend internal team training around fundraising priorities and take ownership of one's own professional development needs; be conversant in each college/unit's top 3 fundraising priorities and partner with college-based liaisons as needed to create gift proposals and steward donors
Maintain prospect data, inform communications materials and aid in campaign planning related to assigned initiative
Attend University-sponsored functions and events; make use of campus activities and events to create stewardship opportunities for donors
Ability to interact positively with a wide range of individuals and position levels

The Advancement Officer will be a fundraising professional who knows and understands the culture, nature, and purpose of development/advancement activities as they apply to the university environment and possess at a minimum: -A Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) -3+ years of experience in conducting successful personal solicitations for annual, leadership, or major gift fundraising or other pertinent/transferable relevant experience -Familiarity with industry best practices related to metrics; demonstrated appetite for the nature of high-volume discovery work -Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated competence in delivering presentations to individuals or groups -Ability to interact positively with a wide range of individuals and position levels -Initiative, innovation, and creativity; self-directed and motivated to excel in a metrics-driven environment -Ability to plan, organize, implement, oversee, and coordinate multiple tasks and meet deadlines -Willing to approach roles and tasks with a commitment to the mission and values of East Carolina University
