FULL STACK ENGINEER, ENGX TEAM , MIT Libraries , to focus on full-stack user-facing engineering. Will play a key role in realizing the vision of the library as a programmable environment, where users not only find the information they need, but have the freedom to build new tools and services atop an open information platform. Will make a difference in this small and growing team that is involved in collaborating with groups across the Libraries to solve information access and retrieval problems and surface relationships between collections and objects at MIT and beyond. Responsibilities include participating in the full life cycle of application development, including design, coding, testing, and production support; collaborating with senior engineers on a variety of projects, including writing new program code and modifying existing code and developing test scenarios/scripts and unit tests to improve performance, resilience, security; serving as a technical resource and developing technical documentation for applications; troubleshooting and debugging programs; and performing other duties as assigned.
The EngX team is responsible for building, selecting, maintaining, and monitoring the APIs, tools, and services that make up the Libraries' information platform in order to facilitate discovery, use, and reuse of MIT's library collections.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; at least three years of relevant programming experience working across the software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies, DevOps, or Agile practice; and experience and familiarity with object-oriented design, 12-factor methods, and test automation.
