North Carolina A&T State University’s Department of Civil, Architectural & Environmental Engineering invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Assistant Professor position in Civil Engineering to begin in Fall 2020. Applicants must hold a PhD in Civil Engineering or a related field. The desired candidate would be able to lead research and teaching in Transportation Engineering. We are specifically seeking candidates with research and teaching interests related to transportation in smart and connected cities, including but not limited to real-time traffic management based on advanced traffic demand or flow modeling, intelligent transportation systems operations including not limited to Connected and Automated Vehicle technologies, and human-machine interaction with applications to the field of transportation. The desired candidate must be able to engage and educate students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Successful candidates will be expected to share in our mission to address the challenges of creating a sustainable global society by educating the next generation of HBCU engineers and leaders.
The primary responsibilities for this position include teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses, conducting cutting-edge research; student advising, mentoring and recruitment; curriculum development, producing scholarly products and all other activities required for tenure and promotion, and a productive academic career. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, engaging in accreditation processes and program assessment; and service to the department, College and University as needed.
