Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Medical Services Assistant for the Department of Medicine at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The Medical Services Assistant performs administrative and clinical tasks as assigned to support effective and efficient office operations. As directed by the physician, administers intramuscular and subcutaneous injections in limited circumstances that may be delegated under the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners regulations.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Maintains computer databases entering changes in demographic, insurance, and other information as required.
Monitors patient flow, and communicates with any issues or problems that arise with the clinical staff; seeks assistance from clinical staff when communication back to the waiting room is needed.
Collects copays, and posts in the financial system; administers receipts and prepares necessary paperwork for later reconciliation of the batch transactions.
After demonstrating competency, performs and documents patient care-related tasks as assigned by the registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, and/or physician.
After demonstrating competency, performs and documents patient communication-related tasks as assigned by the RN, LPN and/or physician.
