Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a highly motivated Mental Health Clinician II for the Department of Infectious Diseases at the New Jersey Medical School. The primary purpose of the Mental Health Clinician II position is to assess, counsel and refer individuals with mental, emotional, or substance abuse problems, including abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and/or other drugs. Activities may include individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, medical case management, client advocacy, client referral, prevention and education. This position will also assist in the coordination and monitoring of the unit's buprenorphine program.
Develops appropriate treatment plans and programs, and assumes overall case management responsibilities for assigned clients.
Performs psychosocial assessments and counseling of patients and families relating to the social, emotional and cognitive capabilities of patients in relationship to their illness and health maintenance needs.
Educates/counsels clients in individual and group sessions to assist them in dealing with substance abuse, mental and physical illness, poverty, unemployment, or physical abuse.
Develops and implements treatment plans and interventions efficiently and effectively to ensure continuity of care.
Assumes overall medical case management responsibilities for assigned clients, including coordination of treatment and liaison with community agencies.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from a professional school accredited by the Council of Social Work Education plus two (2) years post MSW experience.
A Doctorate Degree in a related field.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Patient experience in the area of mental health and/or substance abuse required.
Computer literacy with competence in Microsoft Office components.
Detail oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills.
Experience preferably in an outpatient or medical setting.
Prior experience in clinical research and /or HIV.
Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
Salary: Minimum -$63,180 Midpoint - $75,846, and Maximum - $90,075
