The position will focus on the phenotypic effects of TE polymorphisms using quantitative genetics approaches but could involve other related projects as well. The position will also involve preparing manuscripts and presentations, participating in lab activities, and mentoring. The Josephs lab and the Department of Plant Biology provide a friendly and supportive atmosphere with many opportunities for collaboration.
Ideal candidates will have a background in transposable element biology, population genetics, and/or quantitative genetics. Experience with R, python, C++, or other programming languages is a plus. This position is a one-year appointment with the potential extension up to 4 years, contingent upon satisfactory performance and available funding
Ph.D. in Evolutionary biology, plant biology, genetics, or a related field.
Interest in evolutionary genetics of transposable elements. Previous research experience in plant biology, evolutionary genetics, or a related field. Computational and writing skills.
Experience in transposable element biology, population genetics, quantitative genetics, programming (in R, python, C++, or other languages).
