The Department of Dental Hygiene, College of Dentistry at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center invites applicants for a full-time, non-tenure track, Dental Hygiene Instructor position.
The incumbent is required to:
Instruct in the dental hygiene laboratory
Instruct in the dental hygiene clinic
Assist Chair and other administrators and faculty in special projects as required.
Participate in professional associations.
Maintain and upgrade current professional skills by participating in educational conferences.
Supervise Dental Hygiene students (1 st and 2 nd year) in labs, clinic, and rotations.
3-5 years experience
BSDH; MDH or MS (preferred)
Administration of Local Anesthesia
Administration and Monitoring of Nitrous Oxide
License in Tennessee or ability to obtain
Clinical patient based private practice experience
Previous teaching experience in an CODA accredited dental hygiene school (preferred)
Ability to orally communicate effectively with others, with or without the use of an interpreter.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing, using the English language, with or without the use of auxiliary aids or services.
Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staff at all levels.
Ability to perform multiple tasks in a relatively short time frame.
The ability to analyze facts, exercise proper judgment and arrive at valid conclusions is essential for this position.
Extensive knowledge of dental hygiene medicine and dental hygiene education.
Extensive knowledge of evaluation techniques and methodologies.
Extensive knowledge of past and current trends in dental hygiene education.
Good interpersonal skills are required in order to effectively interact with students, residents, faculty, staff and other personnel.
Good computer skills and familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet software.
