This Health Informatics Application Specialist will be responsible for:
Providing direct computational support to researchers that are advancing the science of biomedical informatics for molecular characterization of the patient, gene discovery, medical decision making, diagnosis, therapeutic selection, care redesign, public health management, population health, and re-imagined clinical trials .
Coordinating the full spectrum of infrastructure and computing projects, including management of workstations, cloud services, and complex research computing platforms.
Supporting research development of medical applications for machine learning/AI including clinical decision support and predictive medicine, genomic medicine, re-imagined clinical trials, real-world evidence, visualization of big data, integrative omics, SMART on FHIR apps and infrastructure, i2b2/tranSMART and image/voice/video analysis.
Guiding researchers with the use of software and workflows.
Developing and promoting the use of tools, workflows, pipelines and computing resources.
In order to qualify you must have:
Master's degree or higher in STEM, or a closely related field, and at least four years' experience in a research environment or Ph.D. in computer science, data science, health informatics, computational biology, or related, with 2+ years of work experience post-PhD; or similar.
Previous experience providing user support in a research environment.
Proficiency with at least one scripting language and SQL required; experience with deep learning, cloud computing and/or statistics would be a bonus.
Knowledge of scripting and/or programming languages and familiarity with current software development best practices.
Fluency in Linux, OS X, and Windows operating systems.
A combination of patience, determination, and persistence to troubleshoot technical issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A positive attitude and ability to develop productive relationships with pediatric researchers.
Passion for new technologies and science.
