Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Director of Finance, Controller, the Assistant Controller directs the preparation of external financial reporting. The incumbent also directly manages and supervises general accounting, accounts payable, payroll, financial planning and forecasting, as well as all statistical gathering and reporting, in accordance with UC Irvine and System wide policies and procedures and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and hospital reporting requirements. Share responsibility for leading the Health System in achieving its financial goals. Ensures the integration of financial information with the School of Medicine. Collaborates with the Office of the President by reporting required and timely financial information. Communicates effectively with OSHPD in reporting accurate and timely financial information. Serves on system wide committees and work teams to develop and implement system-wide policies and procedures. Responsible for developing and maintaining accounting systems to control the organizations assets and to provide accurate financial information. Prepares reports for use by top management. Ensures that the year-end audits by public accounting firms and third party auditors proceed smoothly and in a timely manner. Keeps abreast of all regulations and standards (GAAP, FASB, etc.) to ensure compliance with directives issued by regulatory agencies/third party agencies. Supervises and trains employees under the incumbent supervision. Keeps the Controller and CFO informed on the status of operation under his direction.

Preferred Qualifications: CPA or MBAPrevious experience in the finance area of an acute-care facility
