DUTIES: The Department of Diagnostic Radiology is seeking a full-time Medical Radiography Assistant Director for the 4:00PM to 12:00AM shift. The Assistant Director will be responsible for, but not limited to the following: - Supervises and performs those duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative in the utilization of Diagnostic Imaging equipment. - Ensures that all standard of care are met for our patient population. - Ensures standards for all regulatory agencies, such as Joint Commission and NY Dept. of Health, are met. - Provides area assignments of personnel and coordinate activities within the department, with other departmental activities and services of the hospital. - Responsible for the procurement and storage of supplies. - Responsible for providing statistical information to determine work patterns, patient flow, budgetary information and fiscal requirements. - Provides good customer service to our patient population and co-workers. - Must become fully knowledgeable of departmental policies and procedures including quality assurance and performance improvement. - Developes and introduces new techniques and procedures; Monitors and enhances the program for QC and QA standards. - Provides supervisory oversight for all imaging modalities in radiology on the evening shift. - Ability to provide resolution for various operational issues in radiology and to communicate with various levels of hospital personnel. - Performs Diagnostic imaging procedures at a technical level; Includes obtaining pertinent clinical and medical history of patients. - Must demonstrate knowledge in the effects of radiation exposure, radiation procedures, computer applications and imaging techniques. - Responsible for the safety precautions of patients and workers with regard to radiation exposure. - Assists with training student technologists' and medical students' rotating through the department. - Assists in orientation and implementation of new techniques, research projects and in-service education as directed. - Assists with radiology performance improvement projects to include data collections. - Responsible for all departmental related duties and responsibilities. - Must learn and use computerized patient information systems, including Radiology Information System and PACS; Includes the burning of CD's and DVD's when necessary. - On-call, holiday and emergency coverage as needed. (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: - New York State X-Ray licensed. - ARRT certified. - A minimum of 5 years hospital-based experience in Diagnostic Radiology. PREFERRED: - Bachelor's Degree. - A minimum of 2+ years of supervisory experience. - Experience in CT or MRI procedures.
