The University of South Carolina Lancaster, a Palmetto College campus of the University of South Carolina located approximately thirty-five (35) miles south of Charlotte, NC seeks candidates for a non-tenure track appointment at the rank of Instructor of Biology and Biology Laboratory Manager position.
An Instructor /Lab Manager will normally teach eight courses per year or its equivalent, including evening and distributed learning courses as needed, as well as have a commitment to university/community service.
Biology Lab Manager duties include preparation of media, solutions, and equipment for all biology labs, culturing for microbiology labs, supervising student lab assistants, maintaining a clean and safe laboratory workspace, maintaining lab inventories, and biohazardous waste management.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
Applicants who hold a Master of Science or other appropriate degree in biology or related field, with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in biology, including credentials necessary for departmental approval to teach introductory courses in BIOL will be considered.
Experience teaching at the university level is required; this may have been gained during the course of pursuing a graduate degree. Experience with aseptic technique, microbiological culturing, microbiological media preparation, biosafety, biohazardous waste, and general lab safety is desired. Additional training will be provided based upon previous experience and campus specific needs.
