The primary purpose of this position is to provide a professional level of supervision for the first year, full time students residing in the in the residential facility of University College, including total management of the building, providing academic and social programming, and enforcement of policies and procedures. The Learning Community Coordinator (LCC) is an on-site position which requires the LCC to perform various job duties and assignments. The LCC supervises and manages Community Assistants and Residential Service Technicians and includes assisting with HR/ hiring, payroll, scheduling work hours, and employee training. All these duties serve to strengthen the 24 hour supervision of residential buildings.
Supervises and manages residential hall of 102 students and the staff of Community Assistants and Residential Service Technicians to strengthen 24 hour supervision of the residential buildings and thereby insure and enhance the safety and security of the students and the physical assets of the property; maintains visible presence in assigned community and participates in on-call responsibilities as determined by the LCC on-call system; coordinates and tracks residential hall budgets; coordinates and supervises the timely completion of all paperwork and reports include, but not limited to: incident reports, hall roster, and room inventory condition reports.
Coordinates the referral and dissemination of university communications and documentations between students and staff; works closely with Professional Advisors, Community Assistants and the University as a whole to create an academically focused Learning Community that insures that academic information, important deadlines and academic support services information are communicated to the residents and UC management.
In addition, provides a variety of programming to include academic and non-academic related skills.
Supervises two community assistants, and at least 15 Residential Service Technicians; provides scheduling, training, supervision, and evaluation of Community Assistants and Residential Service Technicians and provides all required documentation; assists with Human Resources processes to include but not limited to processing potential student workers through Workday and processing student worker timesheets; facilitates and participates in student staff training programs and provides on-going training of student staff members through staff development activities and supervision; supervises student staff members in the performance of their responsibilities through regular individual contact, weekly staff meetings and ongoing evaluations of their performance
Advises individual residents and staff on a variety of issues, especially those that relate to their academic success at PVAMU; maintains a community environment that values diversity and social justice; serves as the primary contact for behavioral concerns and trends; recommends the appropriate behavioral response to these concerns and follow-up as needed; learns and utilizes university approved technologies supporting student success initiatives to include providing tours of the residential area, assisting in the computer lab as students register for classes and working with other Orientation activities as requested, providing tours of the residential area, assisting in the computer lab as students register for classes and working with other Orientation activities as requested during the summer; remains involved in Freshman move-in and Panther Camp, a week long residential activity that occurs the week before school starts; trains new staff and works with Student Activities to insure that Panther Camp and its multiple academic and co-curricular classes/activities smoothly.

Bachelor?s degree in student affairs, higher education leadership, college student development, and counseling or related field.
Two to five years experience in residential life.
Conflict resolution and crisis management experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of Microsoft suite and database application.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others, strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Must be able to live on-site in the assigned residence hall.
