SUNY Geneseo is looking for a new team member to join the the Office of Disability Services (ODS). The secretary is primarily responsible for managing the ODS office, as well as the Testing Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for all routine secretarial tasks including: -greeting all visitors -scheduling appointments -responding to department emails -answering phones -ordering supplies -processing travel documentation
They are responsible for a variety of other duties as well, including: -creation and distribution of all letters of accommodation for Geneseo students -supervision and training of 6-7 student workers/proctors each semester -assisting with proctoring during intersession and summer terms when other proctors are unavailable. -controlling the Testing Center database, through which students request alternative testing dates/times to be approved by faculty -confidential retrieval of tests and return of completed examinations
Required Qualifications MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS Candidates must have permanent appointment in a Secretary 1, SG-11 classified position or be reachable for appointment on the current NY State Civil Service canvass list for a Secretary 1, SG-11 position, or be transfer eligible. New York State Preferred Lists candidates have preference. High School Secretarial Program or 1 or 2 years college curriculum in Secretarial Science or 1 year experience working as Secretary.

-typing, data entry, and software package management skils -cultural competency skills, including empathy and a willingness to see people with disabilities in a positive light -strong communication skills -experience as a secretary in higher education -knowledge of SUNY travel, purchasing, and budget regulations -understanding of the mission and goals of a college testing center
Job Duties/Responsibilities Function 1: Manage the Testing Center
1. Receive, log, organize, and return exams in office database. 2. Track exams when faculty fail to submit and train faculty on database usage. 3. Organize exams and maintain them securely and privately. 4. Ensure that students understand and follow the policies of the Testing Center. Function 2: Create and Distribute Letters of Accommodation1. After the Assistant Dean/Director reviews medical documentation and determines appropriate accommodations, create letter for student to share with faculty member (the office serves 500+ students each semester).2. Organize letters and create/implement system for distribution. Distribution has been done in hard copy so far; we plan to implement electronic distribution in fall 2019.
