Job Summary/Basic Function: The Department of Communication and Media and the Lamar University Media Alliance (LUMA) are seeking a journalist who can fulfill a dual role as a content coordinator and website manager for the Lamar University Media Alliance (LUMA) as well as serve as the LUMA internship coordinator. This person will add experience and expertise that complements our existing LUMA staff and faculty and whose new perspectives will add depth and richness to our discussions of strategic planning, broadcasting, and radio journalism. Responsibilities will include general assignment reporting for KVLU, developing and updating the LUMA website and social media platforms, assisting broadcast classes with general reporting assignments and multimedia journalism projects, and supervising LUMA interns.
Minimum Qualifications: Requirements: Masters degree and 2-3 years of broadcast experience preferred. B.A. in communication, broadcast, or journalism and 2-3 years of broadcast experience required. The successful candidate should have a portfolio of broadcast materials that demonstrates writing, production, and time management; knowledge of applicable laws and FCC regulations; experience with content management systems (such as Cascade CMS) and web development/design; experience with social media platform management and curation; and experience managing students in apprentinceship/internship environments.
