Job Summary: Under the direction of the Physical Security Systems Director, the Electronic Access Control Specialist coordinates the department's electronic access control program. The position establishes and maintains electronic access control using central software, coordinates system installations with campus stakeholders, and ensures proper system function. The position provides physical security outreach to the campus and UC Davis Health communities through the writing of confidential physical security assessments and building plan review. The position will play a key role in supporting the Physical Security Division.
Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, walking on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties.
Lift, carry, and push equipment that may consist of large or variously shaped objects and weigh up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
Position requires long hours at a computer.
Normal color vision and hearing.
Work Environment: Valid CA Driver's License is required.
This position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System.
Position may work overtime for special events, during emergencies, and after-hours call outs.

Minimum Qualifications: Experience using electronic access control software and hardware.
Experience maintaining a high degree of discretion, integrity, and sensitivity to confidentiality and privacy.
Experience with Microsoft Windows operating system and Microsoft Office suite.
Skills to interpret building floor plans, blueprints, schematics, and/or CAD drawings to determine proper security needs and placement of electronic access control devices.
Analytical skills to identify problems and develop solutions within the scope of policy and procedure.
Skill in establishing goals and workload priorities, handling multiple tasks with conflicting priorities while meeting deadlines, and flexibility with competing demands.
Experience composing and editing documents for accuracy, consistency of format, spelling, grammar, language, professional appearance, and style.
Oral and written communication skills to successfully convey a message to a diverse audience.
Interpersonal, oral and written skills to effectively communicate and interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds as well as high-level executive management. ________________________________________
Preferred Qualifications: Professional experience programming Lenel OnGuard access control software, version 7.4 or higher.
Experience using other electronic security systems software, such as electronic alarms or security cameras.
Professional writing experience crafting detailed, analytical reports.
Professional experience writing physical security assessments.
Professional experience and/or knowledge of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED).
Skill to maintain excellent follow-through with tasks, customer relations, and expectations of the division.
Experience with physical building security functions, video surveillance, and/or electronic access control hardware/software.
Public speaking experience to deliver presentations and training.
