Essential Functions: The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a Research Associate to independently develop research projects in the area of immunology based on planned objectives. Essential Functions Include: Collaborates with PI to develop long-range scientific plans for funded studies and coordinate personnel responsibilities.Performance of in vitro and in vivo studies in mice with minimal supervision (intra-peritoneal and intra-venous injections; breeding and genotyping; intra-ocular bleeding procedures, survival surgeries). Embryo transfers is a plus.Strong background in flow cytometry and other techniques related to the study of immune responses.Performance of other cellular and molecular biology techniques such as plasmid preparations, RNA and protein isolation, RT-PCR, qPCR, western blot analysis, immunohistochemistry, and immunoprecipitation.Training and supervision of post-doctoral fellows and students.Solves complex methodology, protocol, procedural and research problems through design of techniques, procedures, and policies that will achieve research goals.
Qualifications: A PhD and at least two years related work experience in the area of immunology. Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skillsAbility and confidence to work independently
