The Science Writer will lead efforts in compiling, copyediting, writing, proofreading, and formatting scientific content for program development, scientific manuscripts, and presentations intended to support the research goals of the Hope Lab. This position may be full or part time.
Communicate and disseminate scientific research and advances to a diverse audience including scientists, physicians, patients, educators, health practitioners and the general public. Reviews scientific content and writes, edits, proofreads, and formats content for scientific manuscripts, grant applications, and reports.
Prepares content for scientific conferences, presentations, and multiple audiences; including assembling and organizing data into text and figures for scientific presentations, publications, grant applications, reports, newsletters, and websites. Tailors existing and newly created resources to diverse audiences.
Corresponds with editors and professional staff of scientific journals to ensure manuscript submission requirements are met and submissions for publication are complete.
Partners with and mentors lab members to shepherd scientific articles to publication. Participate in lab meetings and scientific discussions
Performs other duties as assigned.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Five years of writing scientific material (original research manuscripts, review articles/book chapters, and grant applications) or other relevant experience required.

Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)
Masters Degree but preferably a Ph.D. in the health or social sciences.

Intermediate user of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator; experience with website content management systems is a plus.
