The AVP for Student Success provides leadership and support for student success initiatives across the University directly on behalf of the Provost and Associate Vice Provost for Student Success. The AVP for Student Success supports and serves as a critical resource for the Associate Vice Provost, Deans and other senior leaders in operation and delivery of key initiatives that further the University’s goals of increasing retention and graduation rates. This role involves the supervision of multiple staff working very closely with schools and colleges across the institution. Relationship building with key stakeholders including Associate Deans, Department Chairs, advising leads, select staff and faculty is critical to the success of the employee. This is a full-time position during the academic year and during the summer. Position is open to current employees at The University of Texas at Arlington as well as external candidates.
Facilitate the creation and execution of focused processes and interventions designed to increase retention and graduation rates (especially four-year and six-year rates). Supervise multiple staff coordinating efforts around retention and graduation rates across the institution and in each school and college. Supervise academic support staff. Work with key stakeholders in academic and other business units to align university goals and initiatives pertaining to retention and graduation rates with priorities and processes within individual colleges and schools. Collaborate with Enrollment Management, University Analytics, Student Affairs, schools and colleges and other stakeholders to develop, analyze and report relevant data. Develop and share strategic communications. Plan, attend and/or represent the University in meetings related to retention and graduation rates, both on and off campus. Build relationships with key stakeholders across and outside of campus such as Associate Deans, Department Chairs, advising leads, select staff and faculty and transfer partners. Foster a culture of completion in dealings with others. Performs other duties as assigned.
Terminal degree in related field. Familiarity with student success issues in higher education and experience with retention and graduation best practices. Experience with data analytics. At least five (5) years of experience as an administrator at an institution of higher education. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Two (2) years of supervisory experience or the equivalent experience.
At least 5 years of supervisory experience. At least 10 years of experience as an administrator at an institution of higher education. Experience as a faculty member (tenured or non-tenure track) at an institution of higher education.
