Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Accountant for the Eric B Chandler Health Center at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The primary purpose of the Senior Accountant position is to perform accounting functions including preparation of comprehensive journal entries for daily business transactions and month-end closing, advanced account analysis and reconciliations for revenue, cash, receivables, and other current assets and liabilities in conformity with general accepted accounting principles. Prepares related financial statements for the Eric B. Chandler Health Center and its affiliates.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Prepares journal entries to record financial activities including cash receipts, patient revenue and allowances, expenses, fringe benefits, expense reclassifications and miscellaneous revenue and expenses.
Analyzes and reconciles general ledger accounts for the Eric B. Chandler Health Center and affiliates including cash, accounts receivable and payable, miscellaneous receivables, accrued expense and revenue.
Prepares monthly financial and statistical reports for the Center including budget variance analysis.
Must be prepared and presented for Business Manager review one week prior to the due dates established by the outside agency.
Assists in the preparation of grant budgets and the Center's annual budget.
Prepares schedules and analysis related to fiscal year-end audit.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree with 18 credits in accounting.
Five (5) years of professional experience in responsible phases of accounting operations in a healthcare environment.
Two (2) years of experience in responsible phases of accounting or auditing operations.
Applicants who have the required accounting credits but not the degree may substitute additional related professional accounting/auditing experience on a year-for-year basis.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency in Windows based spreadsheet and word processing.
