Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Medical Services Assistant for the Rutgers Health Group at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The Medical Services Assistant provides medical assistance to physicians in the examination and treatment of patients. Prepares exam room and equipment. Ensures that all patient charts are prepared, updated and available for the physician at the time of patient visit.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Performs and documents patient care related tasks as assigned by the physician. Tasks may include, but are not limited to; pre-visit chart review and retrieval of missing documents, preparing patient for visits including taking a health history, chief complaint, and vital signs, medication reconciliation.
Monitors patient flow, and communicates any issues or problems that arise with the clinical staff and seeks assistance from clinical staff, when communication back to the waiting room is needed.
Coordinates and prepares interoffice referrals.
Performs and documents point of care testing including but not limited to glucose testing, rapid strep testing, and urinalysis.
Maintains exam rooms and ensures that all rooms are clean and stocked with supplies for visits or procedures.
