Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for the department of Pediatrics at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Temporary Research Assistant will conduct specialized research activities related to cellular and molecular biology, including DNA analysis. Temporary Research Assistant will also assist the PI in designing genetically modified mouse models of specific endocrine disorders and perform tasks related to animal husbandry. In addition, general laboratory support tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of project/s in the lab is required.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Collects, sorts, processes samples, performs analysis and presents results. Conducts analysis using various methods and in accordance with established procedures.
Compiles and analyzes data with appropriate conclusions and recommendations in support of further research.
Assists in maintaining laboratory records and files.
Attends and actively participates in both weekly and monthly group research meetings and discussions.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in a relevant science plus one (1) year of related research experience, or a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science plus two (2) years of related research experience.
Must have relevant background in Biomedical Sciences, specifically biology, cell biology, genetics and biochemistry/molecular biology.
Must have laboratory experience in cell culture and recombinant DNA.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have effective oral and written communication skills; and ability to understand and communicate in English to sufficiently perform the job duties.
Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to work in a laboratory environment.
Must be able to perform laboratory research.
Some lifting may be required: laboratory items and/or boxes up to 25 lbs.
Walking, standing, sitting is required.
