The George Mason University, Mason Enterprise Center (MEC) in Fairfax is seeking an enthusiastic, professional, and energetic person to assist its office as an Office Receptionist. About the Department:
The Mason Enterprise Center is a community-focused business accelerator, supporting over 50 residential small businesses with office space, training and counseling services, receptionist services, telephone answering and mail services. MEC is located in Fairfax, within walking distance (~1 mile) of the GMU Fairfax campus with a free parking lot behind the building. In addition, there is access to the GMU Shuttle Service which is free for students and employees.
Pay rate: $18-$20 per hour; commensurate with education and experience – 22.5 hours per week
Schedule: 9:30 am – 2:00 pm
Some days may be longer due to events / vacation coverage (paid)
Support staff with front desk coverage
Answer phones and direct client calls
Greet and assist clients and visitors
Distribute clients' mail
Maintain mailing lists
Schedule conference rooms for MEC clients and outside parties
Schedule MEC mentors' schedules
Manage social media accounts and databases (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram) + post on GMU's event management site
Edit client articles to include in social media communication, website, and newsletter
Update website with social media, videos, news articles
Assist with event coordination
High School Diploma
Excellent English language communication skills
Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor
Ability to multitask
Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
Experience with Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram)
Some flexibility required in work hours to ensure office coverage (occasional full day and evening hours, reduced hours during GMU's Winter break)
Experience answering multi-line phone
Marketing materials creation (Microsoft Publisher, Canva, other tools)
Associates', Bachelor's, or Trade School degree
Salary: $18-$20; Commensurate with education and experience.
