Working in partnership with Annual Giving, provide custom support and data analytics. Enhance current reports and provide new reporting, analysis, dashboard solutions. Offer strategic guidance and feedback on trends and progress. Serve as a member of DAR's Information Management (IM) team.
Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) assists Vanderbilt University in securing the resources, both human and financial, that are required to achieve its mission and goals. DAR is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals and organizations whose charitable objectives are consistent with those of Vanderbilt University's teaching and research programs.
Duties and responsibilities
Work closely with Annual Giving colleagues to gain insights and understanding of strategic data needs.
Create reports and dashboards that provide straight forward answers to complex questions.
Prepare manually created standard reports weekly and monthly as needed each fiscal year.
Continue to build skill sets and explore new ways to enhance reporting within the team.
Provide SQL training and support to IM colleagues as needed.
Provide ad hoc project support for strategic initiatives within DAR.
Handle sensitive donor and student information in the strictest confidence, according to departmental and institutional policies.
Work cooperatively with DAR colleagues
Maintain strong and effective relationships within the Vanderbilt community.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
This position does not have supervisory responsibility; this position reports administratively and functionally to the Director of Information Management Analytics.
Profile of an Ideal Candidate
Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent, is necessary.
6 months of relevant experience, or the equivalent, is necessary.One year of more of relevant experience is preferred.
Superior verbal and written communication skills are required.
Ability to use current computer technology, such as Windows, Excel, Word, and Vanderbilt's donor management system is required.
Experience with PL/SQL, SQL Developer, and other reporting tools (i.e. Oracle Business Intelligence, SAP Business Objects) is necessary.
Knowledge of software programs applicable to development is desirable (i.e. Ellucian Advance).
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, professional team player with courteous interpersonal skills and an excellent customer service attitude
Candidate must also have the capacity to perform in an intellectually rigorous and complex academic environment.
The ability to apply sound judgment in all situations is required, as are excellent organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities is essential.
