This Research Administrator II will be responsible for:
Performing pre-award functions such as assisting principal investigators in completion of grant proposals which may include budget development, preparation of draft proposal, and/or coordination of the collection of material from different sources. Serving as a liaison to the Office of Sponsored Programs. Assisting research staff in identifying sources of funding by maintaining knowledge of agency programs and disseminating information to staff.
Performing post-award functions such as processing transactions to allocate research labor costs across multiple funding sources that are consistent with level of research effort; processing purchase requisitions for laboratory supplies, animals and services, capital equipment and travel expenses. Administering departmental research effort reporting and ensuring timely submission of signed effort certificates in compliance with sponsored and institutional guidelines. Collaborating with appropriate central administration staff to represent the needs of the research faculty, (i.e. Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, Purchasing, and Research Administration). Maintaining departmental records of grant awards and agreements.
Working with the principal investigators to develop annual budget and spending forecasts; reconciling monthly expense differences between hospital financial systems and budgets; forecasting funds over/under expenditures and providing regular status reports to the principal investigator. Performing other financial analysis as needed.
Advising principal investigators and departmental manager on research funding matters such as proposal preparation and maintaining appropriate stewardship of funds received from external sponsors and donors.
Ensuring timely renewal of grant proposals and subcontracts.
Attending institutional training to keep skills current and knowledge up-to-date.
Reviewing and searching on-line published resources on grant award and administration practices of the National Institutes of Health.
To qualify, you must have:
The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or a related field and 2-4 years of relevant experience.
The analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in-depth, experienced-based cross-functional knowledge.
A demonstrated understanding of federal cost allocation principles in order to ensure that federal grant funds are appropriately utilized.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and database applications.
