Job Description Summary
The Graduate Division of Arts and Sciences administrative assistant position is key to the workflow of the office and manages the daily interactions with the faculty, other staff, students and visitors to the division.
The Graduate Division of Arts and Sciences administrative assistant position is key to the workflow of the office.Â This staff member manages the daily interactions with the faculty, other staff, students and visitors to the division. Â The position is responsible for answering and/or referring calls to the appropriate staff member.Â The administrative assistant maintains the Associate Deanâ™s calendar and schedules/organizes a large volume of meetings during the academic year for the dean.Â The position is pivotal during the three degree cycles when there is a high volume of students making appointments and visiting the office from every school within the university to deposit their dissertations.Â The administrative assistant supports the admissions director during the annual admission cycle by fielding questions and recording receipt of required admission documents.Â Other responsibilities include coordinating internal fellowship competitions, maintaining graduate group chair appointments and organizing summer language courses offered by the division.Â
Qualifications H.S. Diploma or GED required, with 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. The position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.Â
