The Part-Time Retention Specialist primarily focuses on working directly with students, both individually and within groups, to gather relevant data to assist with the retention of at-risk students, particularly underrepresented, first generation, and non-traditional populations. This person also will assist with the coordination of data regarding academic advising services, with a focus on persistence, completion, and successful transfer.
OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY
The most important overall responsibility of all RCBC employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students, members of the college community and the public.
Accepts responsibility for the timely preparation of student outcomes assessment efforts of the faculty in planning, collecting data, and reporting dates as they relate to course outcomes, program outcomes, general education outcomes, and developmental program outcomes. Actively participates in setting annual division goals and objectives, completing OIR reporting forms, collecting data, analyzing data, and preparing a report using guidelines established by OIR.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with students identified as at-risk to develop academic recovery plans with a goal of retention and degree completion.
Partner with Institutional Research to compile reports and analyze data regarding student success trends at RCBC, primarily pertaining to Retention, Persistence, and Graduation.
Develops reports for early identification of students that may require additional support, such as creating a withdrawal questionnaire, looking at high school gpa, and polling students within various educational paths.
Assists with creating and running focus groups to discover RCBC specific retention ideas (i.e. Mother’s group, Peer Mentoring Program, etc.)
Assists with the identification and completion of Advising and Retention department goals in coordination with the Director and Advising team.
Participates in Retention Committee meetings as needed and assists with committee-based initiatives.

Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, College Student Personnel, Higher Education, or related field preferred.
Direct experience meeting with students for interviews, advising, or focus groups.
Experience with data assessment and predictive analytics.
Minimum of 2 years in student services, higher education, or a related field.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and persuasively.
Strong project management and organizational skills: ability to set priorities and meet deadlines while balancing multiple projects.
Ability to adapt readily to changing situations
