Must be mature, adaptable and have the ability to work pleasantly and tactfully with fellow employees, faculty, students and staff; able to carry out all the essential duties and responsibilities of a Refrigeration Mechanic.
This work covers but is not limited to all commercial and residential refrigeration units as well as experience with Air Handlers above and below 10 tons.
- Install, troubleshoot, service and repair of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Units below and above 10 tons. - Install/Repair but not limited to Ice Makers and Ice Flakers, Spilt AC Units, packaged units, self-contained units, refrigerated incubators, walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, blast chillers, window A/C’s, water fountains, AHU’s, low and high pressure systems - Perform all preventative maintenance work associated with Air Handler Units and equipment - Assign, coordinate, and inspect work as needed. - Review possible projects, order supplies, plan work, communicate with other trade personnel, customers and contractors. Inspect work of department to ensure quality of finished product. - Must be able to work alone and plan and generate workload. Complete work in a timely manner - Follow inspection and service procedures outlined in the equipment manuals - Ability to work with computer technology – in particular, IPAD’s for the Work Order and PM program, time management program, maintain Refrigerant Logs, etc. - Maintain time and production records. Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials. - Must Respond to and assess emergency calls at the request of Campus Police or the duty manager off hours - Requires first response for various issues including stabilize and remedy the situation as needed.
- Must be willing and able to work overtime and be available for non-shift and after hour calls. Must have high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and (3) years Licensed Journeyman Refrigeration license. Must hold an EPA Certification (Universal). Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to perform work on mechanical and electrical components of the system. Ability to speak English. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Communicate clearly and concisely and be able to relay instructions and directions to others. A valid driver’s license is a condition of initial and continued employment. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Operate assigned equipment and vehicle.
