Advertised Summary Job Description: Under the direction of the Vice Chair for Finance and Administration, the Director of Compliance will be responsible for overseeing all billing compliance activities for physicians within the Department of Medicine. Incumbent will lead and supervise a team of compliance coordinators to ensure adherence to the established Billing Compliance Program for the department. Will serve as the liaison with the Office of Compliance Review and will comply with all University requirements related to billing compliance activities.
Manage the development and execution of billing compliance program to meet all legal and institutional requirements. Promote a culture of compliance and ethical standards in institutional billing. Develop educational programs focused on the department's documentation, coding, and billing process. Provide annual mandatory educational training to all faculty and staff involved in aspects of the billing process. Prepare and disseminate compliance information to all departmental faculty and staff. Randomize quality control transactions to assure adherence to the Compliance Program. Monitor the quality transaction reviews. Assist in the development of corrective action plans and resolutions to compliance oversights. Create semi-annual audits in MDaudit for all divisions and physicians semi-annually. Conduct Quality Assurance reviews for all staff. Perform additional related duties as needed.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus five to ten years of related experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Must be a CPC and have billing compliance experience Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9/ICD-10 and coding systems experience is also required. Excellent communication skills, written and oral, supervisory, administrative, interpersonal and organizational skills will be essential to the position. Ability to work well with all levels of faculty and staff and a working knowledge of physician billing systems. Candidate must also be computer literate.
