Instruction and Reference Librarian (Tenure Track)
The Gregg-Graniteville Library at the University of South Carolina Aiken invites applicants to be the Instruction and Reference Librarian, a tenure track position at the rank of assistant professor. The successful candidate will participate in reference desk staffing, library instruction, and collection development, and they will serve as a librarian liaison to academic programs at USC Aiken.
Participating in a robust library instruction program that handles 200+ instruction requests and workshops per academic year
Providing online and in-person reference services to campus and community patrons
Serving as a liaison to USC Aiken academic programs
Meeting campus guidelines for promotion and tenure, including the areas of teaching/librarianship (including the potential for teaching for-credit courses); research and scholarship; and service to the library, the campus, the profession, and the community
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituencies
Strong commitment to public service
Excellent organizational skills
Knowledge of trends and best practices in academic libraries
Ability to teach in a variety of settings and formats
Commitment to fostering diversity, inclusion, and belonging
This is a 12 month, 37.5 week appointment with accrued sick and annual leave; salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate must have an MLIS/MLS from an institution accredited by the American Library Association or equivalent by the start date.
