The Assessment Associate reports to the Director of Institutional Assessment and assumes responsibility for projects that support student learning and support unit outcomes assessment, general education assessment, and student success at IPAR. The Assessment Associate may serve as a member of institutional and divisional committees, task forces, and councils.
The Assessment Associate is responsible for the following duties: (1) Technical Support related to Assessment:
Serving as the administrator and primary campus contact for an institution-wide assessment tracking and reporting system;
Assisting faculty and staff in developing and updating assessment reports and curriculum maps;
Consulting with faculty and staff on assessment and specialized accreditation issues;
Supporting colleges/divisions to identify, collect, analyze, and report on a variety of assessment data as needed; and
Maintaining and updating the website for Institutional Assessment and internal document sharing sites (e.g., SharePoint sites).
(2) General Education Assessment:
Providing support for general education assessment including sampling, data collection, data analysis, reporting, and dissemination of results;
Assisting faculty in using learning management system to collect student artifacts, create rubrics, and review/grade samples of student artifacts;
Drafting/compiling/editing written reports and creating infographics for general education assessment and presenting to the campus and stakeholders; and
Assisting faculty in using the results to make improvements.
(3) Data Analytics and Visualization:
Retrieving data from data warehouse and institutional management system, and integrating data from multiple sources for assessment related research;
Conducting advanced statistical analysis to identify patterns in student learning; and
Creating dashboards and infographics using assessment and institutional data.
(4) Teaching and Training related to Assessment:
Conducting workshops and professional development sessions to faculty, staff, and students in support of assessment or specialized accreditation requirements; and
Promoting best practices in institutional assessment, program evaluation, and assessment related research through teaching activities including but not limited to classroom instruction, directing student projects, and advising student research.

The Office of Institutional Planning, Assessment, and Research (IPAR) provides essential support to the Chancellor and the other university divisions for the management and analysis of institutional data, facilitates the strategic planning process, evaluates the quality of programs and services, and provides oversight of the processes and demands required for regional accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC). IPAR is the University's primary contact with the University of North Carolina General Administration, SACS-COC and other external constituencies in supplying the data requested by these various bodies.
