Reports to the SPD and Materials Management Director and supervises Perioperative Services Materials Management for UC San Diego Health's Perioperative and Procedural services area.
Manages the staff performing functions such as ordering supplies, tracking inventory records, storing inventory and distributing supplies. Oversees and monitors systems utilized for ordering, stocking, and replenishing supplies; additionally, works in liaison with UC San Diego Health Procurement to assess and negotiate the contracts and contracting process for Perioperative and Procedural Services. Ensures supply storage meets accuracy, cleanliness, and organization standards in each stocking location. Oversees and monitors the utilization supply management tools to capture, track, and reconcile supply usage. Reviews inventory records for accuracy and timeliness. Enforces completion of all required documentation. Provides input for short and long range Materials Management goals. Implements strategic plans; collects data, measures success, and evaluates performance. Manages capital and operation resources for a cost center within budget. Manages the intake of the tissue tracking process and ensures compliance to tissue tracking regulatory standards. Manages perioperative and procedural services product recalls (RASMAS system). Suggests ways to improve operations by increasing efficiency. If necessary, requests additional resources. Coordinates the system for billing and charging transactions. Analyzes supply levels for units to ensure cost efficiency, item expiration compliance and appropriate stock. Maintains monthly reports based on systems data and prepares additional reports as requested. Assists with cost analysis and participates in UC San Diego Health's RFP process with Procurement. Monitors assigned staff compliance with departmental and University inventory management practices. Keeps the department aware of regulatory and safety issues and remains in compliance with the latest regulatory findings and results.
Actively participates as a member or advisor on interdisciplinary committees, representing the materials management division on a range of initiatives, such as workflow efficiencies, patient satisfaction levels, workforce quality improvement initiatives, and clinical information systems. Serves as a liaison with customers to maintain a functional and efficient supply chain system. Serves as primary point of contact for vendors. Monitors distribution partners service levels to ensure quality and cost effectiveness. Recommends changes in staffing, executes recruiting and onboarding, verifying new hires meet standards. Updates job descriptions and career series to maintain accuracy. Conducts performance evaluations and defines development goals. Promotes professional growth and advancement for Materials Management staff, implementing professional development and training initiatives for staff. Provides mentorship to Materials Management Professionals. Develops and coordinates formal trainings to instruct staff to effectively order and distribute supplies and store and track inventory. Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Seven or more years of relevant experience; including three years of materials management and contracts experience.
Experience and proven success in current materials management best practices and systems.
Minimum one year recent supervisory or management experience.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
