Iowa State University Dining Services is seeking qualified applicants for a Storekeeper II in Food Stores. This position is responsible for the safe and proper handling and shipping of food, supplies, and equipment entering and leaving Food Stores. The Storekeeper receives, stores, issues, and delivers daily food and supplies toISUDining and University customers. Job tasks include warehouse order fulfillment, verifying stock against shipping forms to ensure accuracy of delivery, cleaning and organizing storage areas, rotating products, checking inventories, customer service, and maintaining safety in all work areas.
The duties of this position require the ability to lift or transport up to 60 pounds routinely and 100 pounds occasionally; to bend, stoop, stand, and work in a cold, hot, or noisy environment for prolonged periods; and to maintain records.
The successful candidate will be able to safely and efficiently load and unload trucks, manage time effectively and make on-time deliveries, and effectively pack and organize product and equipment.
This position is 1st Shift. Work Schedule: Monday â Friday 8:00 a.m. â 4:30 p.m.
Under general supervision, operates a small storeroom, or is in charge of one or more functions of a large storeroom operation. Provides functional supervision to storeroom personnel as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
â¢ Receives, stores and issues equipment, materials, supplies, foodstuffs, etc., according to established methods.
â¢ Stores special stock items requiring treatment which may deviate from established store keeping methods in assigning space and identification.
â¢ Issues items which require knowledge of specific areas of supply operation and good knowledge of stock characterized by susceptibility to spontaneous combustion, toxicity, fragility, rapid deterioration, contamination, ease of physical damage.
â¢ Performs tasks independently in connection with checking and tallying special or technical items of supply.
â¢ Verifies stock against shipping authorizations for agreement as to quantities, descriptions, sizes, conditions and conformance to purchase orders.
â¢ Searches manufacturersâ catalogs, technical bulletins, nomenclature lists, etc. to identify special items; seeks advice of operating personnel to insure compliance with purchase orders for unusual orders.
â¢ Applies storekeeping procedures and methods in arranging space, conducting inventory, estimating needs, and maintaining and preparing records and reports as directed.
â¢ Makes minor adjustments or repairs to items carried in stock.
â¢ Drives, loads, and unloads a delivery truck periodically.
â¢ Assist faculty and staff in setting up and operating equipment for lectures, regular laboratory work, or special demonstrations.

â¢ Knowledge of storeroom methods and procedures.
â¢ Knowledge of the characteristics, uses and proper handling/storage techniques of items supplied.
â¢ Knowledge of proper lifting and bending techniques.
