The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is seeking skilled service professionals that excel in a fast-paced workplace to join the Food Services Department as Banquet Servers. This is a non-exempt position without benefits, scheduled to work about 28 hours per week on average and up to 1,450 hours annually (May 1 â April 30). Banquet Server duties include: Sets up and breaks down event area to meet function specifications. Gathers service items needed for events from various museum storage areas. Prepares the event space for service by draping tables with linen, setting tables, placing flowers and serving pieces as directed. Places food items in or on serving pieces as directed. Transports food items from the kitchen and places on the serving tables. Passes hors dâoeuvres or drinks on trays to guests. Remains attentive to diners as they consume the meal, replenishing beverages as required. Anticipates the needs of guests and politely responds to requests. Serves food and beverages at tables during seated functions as directed. Clears tables at conclusion of each course at seated functions. Keeps the event area cleared of glasses, plates, flatware, paper goods, and other materials. Returns food, beverage, and rental items to kitchen, dish machine or proper storage area. Other event-related support as required.
