The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is seeking friendly, visitor-centric individuals to join the Visitor Services Department as Gallery Associates. These are non-exempt positions without benefits, scheduled to work up to approximately 28 hours per week on average and up to 1,450 hours annually (May 1 â April 30). Supports the museumâs mission to collect, preserve, exhibit, and interpret art by monitoring the galleries, assisting with crowd control, and informing visitors of the gallery guidelines. Provides excellent service to visitors by assisting with questions, directions, or other instructions. Communicates museum closing times to visitors and ensure galleries are clear before closing. Reports incidents to supervisors in a timely manner and escalates customer service issues, when needed. Coordinates with security staff in the event of an emergency and notifies security staff of safety or security issues as needed.
