This critical position will be responsible for individual and group counseling, crisis management, and intervention support for Boston campus students. Applicants who would enrich the University?s diversity are encouraged to apply.Responsibilities:Develop and implement wellness and prevention programming for studentsOversee education and outreach programs on college health and mental health, prevention, and wellness topicsWork closely with the Diversity and Inclusion campus partners to including emphasis on mental health equity and the emotional well-being and mental health of students of colorProvide training, consultation and support to other staff, faculty, and residence life staff on mental health and wellness student/campus needsProvide referrals to outside treatment providersConsultation with faculty/staff regarding student mattersDevelop and maintain relevant protocol for departmental operations manual Participate in Counselor-on-call protocol (including weekends, after hours, break periods, and holidays) Maintain clinical notes, monthly statistics and other necessary clinical documentation, administrative forms and electronic recordsAssist with Leave-of-Absence (LOA) processes in concert with Student Affairs. Meet with students returning from mental health-related leave of absence or hospitalization to support their return to MCPHSWork with Counseling Services Staff with on-going centralization efforts across campuses to ensure consistent and Quality Improvement implementation of servicesParticipate in supervision with supervisor regularlyParticipate in University-wide committees and programming/events such as Orientation, Open Houses, and Residence Life trainingRequires an understanding of the educational, cultural and social needs of a diverse student population (domestic and international student community)Ability to work occasional nights and weekendsMaintain knowledge related Title IX regulations and response protocolCollaborate with Counseling staff at Boston, Worcester and Manchester campusesTravel to other Campuses as neededAdditional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.Qualifications:Required:Master's degree (Social Work, Counseling Psychology, or a related field) and two or more years of experience in a college/university counseling settingMassachusetts Licensure requiredCrisis management experience, including serving in on-call capacityExperience supervising and training intern staffExperience working with diverse populationsRequires an understanding of the educational, cultural and social needs of a domestic and international student communityAbility to tolerate and help students manage strong emotionsRequires understanding of Suicide Prevention Training and impementation on a college campuPossesses excellent leadership, communication, organizational and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively with University support staff in supporting and serving students? emotional, developmental, and behavioral needsAbility to manage confidential materials and maintain confidentiality when working on specific task or projectsPossesses a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks and resources appropriatelyWillingness and ability to learn software programs for appointment scheduling and electronic record-keepingFamiliarity with the complexities of international student transitional needsMCPHS offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits that includes a substantial contribution toward the cost of medical and dental insurance, generous time off benefits, and a significant pension plan contribution.
