DUTIES: The Department of Pediatrics at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Residency/Student Program Coordinator/Staff Associate. The Staff Associate will have full responsibility for the administration of the Department of Pediatrics Medical Education Office, including supervision of its two Staff Assistants. With minimal supervision from the respective program directors, the incumbent will oversee the administration of the residency and student education programs. Specific duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: - Oversee administration of the Pediatric Residency Training Program by meeting the goals and commitments set by the Residency Program Director. - Assist the Program Director in developing strategies for maintaining high standards in student and residency education. - Supervise and assist with residency recruitment by developing recruitment material such as brochures and newsletters, managing a recruitment budget, and scheduling. - Develop systems for tracking activities and progress of approximately 100 house-staff, comprised of General Pediatric and subspecialty house-staff, until completion of their programs. - Provide information on graduates to outside institutions, such as letters of recommendation and fellowship applications. - Supervise the preparation of documents for the NRMP, ACGME, ABBP, and ECFMG. - Assure that resident appointments, promotions and terminations are in compliance with GME and KCH house staff guidelines. - Prepare monthly reports detailing resident effort at UHB, KCH, and affiliated hospitals. - Supervise coordination of Medical Student Clerkship in the medical school program.
